About

In December of 2007, through a joint effort of the Luzerne/Schuylkill, Lackawanna, Northern Tier and Pocono Workforce Investment Boards, the regional Energy Industry Partnership was formed. The Partnership consists of industry leaders, educators, workforce and economic development partners covering 12 counties in Northeast Pennsylvania. These counties include: Bradford, Carbon, Luzerne, Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Wayne and Wyoming.

Initiatives of the Energy Industry Partnership:

1)  Continue to grow the membership of the Partnership along with the necessary resources critical to its success.

2)  Through collaboration with industry leaders and educators, outreach events will be held at elementary, middle and high school levels to show how energy impacts our lives everyday.

3)  Hands-on presentations will showcase the careers available in the industry and the skills needed to pursue them.

4)  Create public awareness of the existence of energy industries in the twelve county region and the availability of programs designed to provide skills and training necessary to join its workforce.

5)  Reverse the negative stereotypes, such as tough working conditions, etc., associated with working in the energy field by demonstrating the diversity and growth potential of a career in energy.

6) Work with area schools in developing Science and Energy Clubs to introduce and encourage students to become a  part of the energy future.

Industry Analysis:

In order to determine the priorities of the Partnership, a Training Needs Assessment Survey and SWOT Analysis were conducted.
